The growing trend of people having webpages put up on free servers and subdirectories
of big companies has been becoming more popular. Each of these sites can either have great
content or have some pretty holistic features. But either way if the address is to hard to
remember, no one will ever see it. When they go to that page they see ad's and banners, and
pop-up images that "uglify" the page itself.
The Pain, The Horror!
What would your preference be in a situation like this. You can choose from the generic
geocities, homestead, or tripod websites which have the long addresses such as:
Example:
http://www.angelfire.com/nm/biz/yoursite
http://yoursite.homestead.com/your index
http://www.tripod/members/personal/yoursite
The Solution
The simple answer to break the chain and not become a statistic, is to register a domain name.
The name itself is completely up to you. The only downside is availability of that name.
Your choice must reflect upon the website in which you are running. It could be anything.
You do you want "yoursite.com?" Would you like to say go to, "Go to yourname.com?"
Of course, we all do, and now, it's possible!
Registration can be done for the small one time payment of
$20. That's it,
nothing else, no strings attached. And you thought it would cost you a fortune.
